We've been going to the Beehive for the past several months. The food is fresh and interesting for bar fare. Love the pot roast and fish tacos. The drinks are excellent. Prices are reasonable. We have not been in the bar, but sit in the restaurant area. There are interesting photos from the past (in poster size) that show St Charles of old. Nice atmosphere. All that deserves 4 stars, but it's the service that drops it down a notch. We go early in the evening for supper, if we are the only patrons we get excellent service, add a few more tables, and the service is sub par. I can't really explain why, they seem to have enough waitresses, they just seem distracted. Judging from other comments of locals, we are not the only ones to observe this. Hopefully, The Beehive will take heed and place more attention on the waitstaff.

This is one of our family favorites in St. Charles. They have AWESOME Onion rings, and a super good pulled pork sandwich - its the only thing my sister has ever ordered. The burgers are good, the tuna sandwich is great, and so is the soup! Good beer selection and decent bloody mary's! We usually hit it up for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday, and its usually pretty dead, so its a good time to bring my little nephews who love the hot dogs!

If you buy drinks for you and a female friend at last call, get ready for them to literally (!) rip the drinks out of both you and your friend's hand 5 minutes afterwords in order to kick you out. This place apparently hates its customers. I am disputing my credit card charges....if they do this to you, I suggest you do the same so you can recover your money.

The Beehive was larger than we expected after Pub 222. We got comfy in the bar at a tall table before we realized there was a game room and a probably quieter larger dining room with booths and tables. We liked the bar just fine and enjoyed watching the main street traffic and Courtney our very competent server hustle. We second the other reviews here particularly for very thinly buttermilk-battered fresh onion rings and tasty fish tacos, it is on a special menu so you may have to ask. The Reuben was also good, and we fought over the corn side that tasted fresh cut while a pretty average rice pilaf got cold. Big enough menu we had a 3rd and 4th choice, pulled pork or one of the big salads. Very busy place in the bar and Courtney was serving a 3/4 full bar and 3-4 tables so you had to wait a little while for a refill once in awhile but good job. Like Pub 222, I would give it 4 stars for bar food alone. I prefer the outdoor garden that Pub 222 has but it was raining so perfect. Sports bar motif plus Military Memorials, very timely for Memorial Day, and the much rarer Beehive references that seem to work. Flat screen TV's everywhere-you don't have to miss a shot here. Lotsa wood on the walls and has a rich appearance, largely rock and alternative music that was crisp and too loud-and it was still early. Pros- Flat screen sportz paradise, bar, game room and large dining room, competent interested servers, small but diverse menu, many draft beers. Cons- No outdoor eating area, really LOUD it is still a sports bar, a little heavy on the fried. We liked it but will head for Pub 222 when it is nice outside.

I like the Beehive more than many other neighborhood bar & grills. It's never as crowded as other St. Charles bars (i.e. Filling Station, Alley 64) and we usually seem to find a table. They have pretty good food too for dinner. I've had all of their wraps and have not been disappointed with any. My "go to" meal is definitely the southwest chicken wrap (or something named similarly). They also have awesome beers on tap.

I find the Beehive to be pretty enjoyable. The food wasn't too great but I don't expect a lot from most bars. The bartenders and servers are always pretty friendly. This place does get really jammed on weekends so it can be difficult to get drinks but other than that it's a decent low-key place most of the time.

Really enjoyed this place! Went on a Saturday night-the bar was jam packed b/c of the Hawks game-did not realize how big this place really was. Found a table in the dining room. Our server was super nice and even tho it was crazy busy she did not seem hurried or frazzled-got the menus to us right away and got our beers quick. Had the chicken wings and chicken quesadillas-nothing fabulous just good bar food. Fantastic location! Nice atmosphere! Would love to go back when its warmer outside to walk around. Will be back!

Since hoping a couple of years ago, I feel the food has gone downhill precipitously. Drinks and free popcorn are great but tough to have dinner there now. The crowd seems to be getting younger as well. I'll keep trying as I walk through it to get to other bars in town.

The Bee Hive is a typical pub and sports/pool bar. The food is mix of fried appetizers and burgers with lots of sandwich, salad, pastas, and steaks to choose from. The menu is extensive, even the pickiest of eaters are sure to find something they like. On a Friday or Saturday night the place packs in fast. If your able to make it there on a Sunday or Monday, the pool is free. Throughout the week, there are daily specials, my favorite being half price appetizers daily from 4-6 pm. If you're looking for a great place to hang out with friends and have some drinks and appetizers, this is the spot to go in St. Charles. Portions are large, prices are fair, and the whole place is buzzing with twenty or thirty somethings unwinding afterwork.

One of my favorite places to go when in St. Charles. The atmosphere is very relaxed and fun, and the food is very good. They have a few sandwiches that I love, and everything else we have tried is very good as well. Beehive has a full bar with a decent beer selection if I recall correctly. Prices are about what you would expect for a bar and grill type of place. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Parking comes easy with a lot in back or ample street parking near by.

Our family has eaten here several times. The onion rings are tasty. Nice big rings.. there is no way one can eat them all alone, definitely going to need help. Fish tacos are great! This is another local St. Charles bar that my husband and I like going to. They have a good beer selection and, of course, a full bar. We tend to bar hop a little from either St. Charlie's or The Filling Station just down the street. We have never ate here so I can't comment on that but from the other reviews it seems like they have decent food. We just like the mixed crowd atmosphere that is very laid back and not too loud.

The Beehive is a great addition to the St. Charles bar scene. Up until 2 years ago, the building used to be a dive bar called Hoops. I believe the building was bought out renovated. Many of the St. Charles bars attract the "younger" crowds, but the Beehive seems to attract late 20s-40s. If you are looking for that age range, this is the pace to go to. The wait staff is great and the food is delicious.

Enjoyed a meal at The Beehive for a special event. I'd say my overall experience was 3 stars- however, I really appreciated the fact that they hosted this event for my friend, were willing to donate 15% of proceeds, and seeing the bartenders explain the event to the people that were just there for a Blackhawks game- and talking to them about donating. Now for my real review. The restaurant/pub was extremely busy the time we visited. There were definitely not enough servers, but those who were working were doing a great job with how busy it was. It took quite awhile to get our order taken, but from there the process was speedy. Refills came of our sodas without asking, and the food we ordered was good. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I ordered an appetizer sampler- I love that they do their sampler so you can choose which appetizers you want from a list. I tried the onion rings (absolutely excellent), portobello fries, and chicken fingers. I enjoyed them all. We did feel like the menu was kind of unusual- lots of things that did not really seem to connect to one another- but people seemed to be enjoying their food at all of the other tables. I don't know that I will be rushing back to the Beehive- but I would not mind going back to try another meal in the future.

This review is based on the bar experience only, as I have not yet tried their food. One of these visits I will, but given that I've been here three times to belly up to the bar, I figured I owed them a review. I'm admittedly a little spoiled when it comes to beer selection, because I have a couple of places nearby that offer quite a spread of taps, but I have to hand it to the Hive, they make good use of a relatively small number of taps. They have had both Revolution's Anti-Hero and Goose Island's Green Line on tap each time I've been there. Any place that does that deserves some props. After I've had the chance to try the food, I'll have to update this review, because if the food's any good, this is probably a 4 star place. I love the atmosphere, and the bartenders have always been nice.

Went with my boyfried and his friends who are from or used to live a considerable portion of their existance in St. Charles. I really enjoyed the beehive. It gets sooooo packed when the kids come home for Christmas, liiiiike super packed. My wife and stopped in while in town. Staff immediately acknowledged us even though the place was slow at an off hour on a Saturday afternoon. They served us well the whole time we were there We didn't order drinks, only interested I food. I ordered a simple cheeseburger and my wife ordered a fish sandwich. Both were good, came with tater tots served promptly. Server made sure we had all we needed several times. All in all I'd rate the food as average which is the reason for the four star rating. Nothing out of the ordinary here. But we will return. I'd recommend that give it a try.

This is a great community bar with a fun, laid back atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. I sat at the bar, watched the Blackhawks game and dined on Beehive's fish tacos. The tacos were very good - much better than typical bar fare. The fish had great flavor and the rice served with the dish was a tasty, pleasant surprise. I recommend this place as a casual spot to relax and watch a game over a couple of beers with friends.

My husband and I went in on a Monday night, so it wasn't terribly busy. There are 2 entrances. One off route 64 and one in the back. There's tons of public parking in the back, so that's the way we came in. It has more of a restaurant feel in the back, and more of a bar feel in the front. We were able to get a table right away and the waitress came over within minutes. I ordered a long island because it was a Monday and it was only $3.50! They have some great drink specials (see picture below). We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they don't skimp on the amount. They were good, but nothing amazing. But, we enjoyed them nonetheless. I ordered the pork belly tacos and they were amazing. To be honest, I wasn't expecting super, but I was proven wrong. I basically inhaled my food. The tacos were rich and delicious. Whoever is making them, knows what they are doing. It came with a side of corn which was refreshing. For what it is, this place ranks pretty high in my books. I would go back, just for the pork belly tacos. My only complaints: #1 It was dark and I wish there were some more windows or that they would uncover the front windows with all the posters. #2 the place where we were sitting, I think was not level. I tried a couple different chairs and everything was still uneven. #3 When I asked for a beer menu, she said "it changes all the time. we don't have a menu". Ok..well get a menu and print a new one out all the time, then.

Multi generational fun! I love this place for lunch and early evening. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Good food, non-rushed yet attentive and friendly service. Have taken my family here. Kids enjoy video golf game and touchtunes juke box. Late night, walked in with some 40-something friends and there were panicked looks from members of the capacity crowd, as if someone's parents just busted a high school kegger. Not insinuating that management serves under 21, just that the average age decreases by 50 pct after 10. Good for them. They have quality taste, which means there is hope for the next generation. Put this place on your list for a weekend afternoon bar crawl, catch a game on ample TV's or a great afternoon hideaway for midweek "off site meeting".

This was either the first or second stop on our St. Charles bar crawl. The night was a blur, so I'm not 100% sure. I know we started here and it all began with a bang. I'm definitely a big city guy, but there's a charm about St. Charles that you can't find anywhere else. I had a great time and the Beehive is in the middle of it all. I like that there's a lot of space to spread out. They have food and a huge bar. The bartenders were all really cool and despite not being a shots guy, they seemed to find ones that I enjoyed.

As far as St. Charles goes, the Beehive is probably as Bar/Pub/Restaurant as they come. It's the quintessential watering whole. Whenever I show up on a weekend, 20-somethings are literally sitting/standing/jumping around three-deep in front of the bar, just watching the bartender scramble. Maybe it's better than the Cubbies on TV? I digress... The long and short of it is that this place has the typical necessary evils on tap: Bud, Miller etc... They also have drink specials which is always a plus in my book because I'm cheap. When I drink, that is. ALSO: just saw some dbag who is b****ing about some of the staff getting in trouble. I hear that some of the staff (and I won't mention who, because it's been taken care of) were doing much worse things than taking the occasional shot whist on the job. If you have any idea how much trouble the restaurant could have gotten in, you wouldn't be saying such stupid things on the internet. The staff is professional and friendly, but sometimes even the best of us make mistakes. IF STC WERE A COLLEGE TOWN, that place would have been knee-deep in sh*t. Just sayin'. Sorry. Yet another digression, but I feel that it had to be said.

This place is schizophrenic. During the day - relaxed, easy-going and quiet so that you can actually get something to eat. During the night - massive high school reunion party. Having said that, the food is of good quality and the service is really good. Drink selection is alright, nothing out of the ordinary. The prices can be a bit steep though. Our appetizer (fried cheese) was good, but the sandwiches were very disappointing. The reuben was tiny and the hamburger came out on a non-grilled generic bun. I would skip a full meal next time, but still spend time drinking here.

This bar is one of my sister and brother-in-law's favorite places to frequent in St. Charles, and I certainly understand why. Not only are their food and drinks great, but the management and staff are equally wonderful. I recently contacted them to see if they would be willing to help out for a pub crawl fundraiser that I was organizing for the American Cancer Society. One of the managers said that he would be glad to donate a couple $20 gift cards to raffle off to participants and that I could pick them up when the group comes through the day of the event. The fundraiser was this past Saturday, and, as promised, the gift cards were there waiting for us, and I was able to raise money for the American Cancer Society through the raffle. I really appreciated this business's willingness to support an important cause and thought that yelpers should be aware that when they visit this place, they are not only getting great food, great drink specials, and friendly service, but they are also supporting a business run by good people. This venue was ideal for a big, eclectic group of people. Many of the bar crawl participants enjoyed playing pool and darts, while others enjoyed just relaxing and talking while munching on nachos and pretzel sticks and washing it all down with a tasty beverage. Thank you, Beehive, for supporting a charity and, as always, facilitating a fun time for your guests!

I like this bar a lot to be honest, more so than some of the other ones in downtown St. Charles. Came here to watch a Bulls game one night when ESPN Radio was there so it was pretty packed since free stuff was given out. 2 dollar beers on this particular night was not too shabby. The food from what I remember was alright. My group ordered a bunch of different appetizers to share. The nachos were pretty good. The tater tots and cheese curds were alright, nothing special. And don't get the onion rings, they barely give you any. Our waitress was a little slow but that was only because of the amount of people. Was pretty hard to get to the bar too in the same sense but she pulled through for us. I'd suggest sitting in the back room as there is more space rather than the front. I feel like there is better lighting in the back too. Or if you are feeling adventurous you can be in the patio. Great place though.

The Beehive is pretty ho-hum. There's nothing that positively separates it from any other pub-and-grille in the suburbs. Their beer selection offers just a tad bit more than other restaurants in the area: they carry Rogue, Fat Tire, Goose and Pacifico in addition to the usual beer line-up. Their food is astoundingly forgettable. I ordered their Angus Beer Burger. I was pretty hungry when we were seated but I had to force myself to finish the burger because it just didn't register with my taste buds. If Angus had ground packing peanuts, colored it deep brown and called it a burger, I wouldn't have known the difference. Whomever prepared my party's meals was very Scrooge-like with the fries. It's as if the cook were preparing for nuclear winter and was under the delusion that fries would be their one and only salvation. Truly, only six or seven pieces got onto my plate which comes off as cheap and stingy. The Beehive wait staff seemed to be floating around all night but they certainly weren't paying attention to our table. Neglectful service during busy hours is understandable but the place was nowhere near packed (which I now realize was a warning sign). The Beehive strikes me as that bar that your friends happen onto between two fun places. It's the place where you stick around for a beer and leave. With its name, you hope to be enticed, even prodded, to believe this is your destination but there's really nothing to keep you inside.

Horrible. Pretentious staff who think they are tending bar in soho or something. Intentionally ignore you to improve their self esteem. Wait 45 minutes for a drink watching the alcoholic bartender get drunk instead of making drinks. The bar is full of loser townies. After spending a good part of the night there laying down some cash with my friends enjoying nice conversation (despite crowd's rowdiness), the lights came on at 1 and the drunk bartender interrupted our waitress (who was doing last call) to kick us out. He told her to leave our table and told my party to leave after we paid. I told him to settle down and that he had too much to drink and at that point he grabbed my Leica - a $3k camera - off the table and started running out the back door! I had to tackle him to get my camera back at which point other staff apologized, took him away and let us finish our drinks. Ridiculous- guy should have been fired several times that night. Who steals a customers camera? He was so drunk- isn't that illegal? The one star is for the apology, the fact that the bar was busy, and that they carry goose island on tap (albeit priced higher than downtown Chicago bars that are way better).

What a disappointment. I went there with a friend, early afternoon, on a Sunday. There were 2 people at the bar, besides me and my friend. Luckily for us, one of the people at the bar worked there, but was visiting on his day off. The bartendar was nowhere to be found. The guy at the bar, went behind the bar, to get us a couple of beers. The bartendar finally came back to the bar and explained that they only had 4 more MGDs. This is early afternoon on Sunday and they are out of MGD?? I have been to this place a couple of times, but this was my last time. When the bartendar was behind the bar, she was at the far end, talking to the guy that worked there. It was no wonder that, on a Sunday afternoon, there were only 4 people at the bar, to watch football. There are a lot of bars in St. Charles, that will give people the attention that they deserve. Very poor management...

Beehive is located in downtown St. Charles, so that is convenient. I park in one of the public lots and walk around to several places, so I don't know what it would be like to park with just Beehive in mind. The bar itself is nice. It is cozy and there is lots of wood everywhere. The space is broken up into several rooms: bar, pool table, dining area. I have visited a few times and I only sit at the bar. The beer selection is poor to fair. They do have one or two taps dedicated to something other than BMC beers, but even those choices are very "safe" for the general beer swilling crowd. Sometimes when I am in a place that is not heavy into craft brews, I will go with Scotch, but they don't have a lot of good options in that area either. One thing that really ruins the bar experience is the insane TV volume. TV is so loud I cannot hear myself think and it wasn't even a "big game" or anything inane like that. I wanted to like Beehive, but it just isn't my kind of bar. I have been back a few times, but I won't be rushing to go again.

This place gave a really respectable performance for a suburb bar, the BLARING Goo Goo Dolls that was playing when I entered not withstanding. The place is big, but still got pretty busy, which is nice. The crowd is mixed ages, but not in a weird way. The bartenders are very friendly and the beer offerings are very good. It's a little pricey, 5.75 for a Fat Tire, but whatever. I didn't eat, but all of the food smelled really fantastic, and there's a more restaurant-y seating area in the back, so this would be a good place for a meal. As for the music, there's a jukebox, so it's not really the bars fault, the evening included a very eclectic mix of country, rap, punk and dance music. I don't really plan on spending a significant amount of time in StC, but my friend just moved there so I'll be coming back and suggesting we make this our regular hang out.

I've been here a few times now and the past time was the best. The food was above average for your typical "bar." The place was clean, they had lots of TVs and we had a nice waitress. The crowd was split between people in their mid to late twenties and forty/fifty somethings. Didn't bother me, no one seemed out of place. There was also plenty of seating, even when the bar was crowded. I'm not in awe of the experience, but I'll be back the next time I am in the suburbs. One con: no beer menu, you just have to look for yourself at what is on tap.

I like the Beehive because it's not typical of St. Charles bars. The atmosphere is closer to a Chicago bar. I think they draw an older crowd. The place isn't full of young kids looking to get wasted, like some other St. Charles bars I might mention. The food is good and they have great food specials. The bar has great liquor selections, including Hendrics gin! They also finely got smart and got some good beer on tap! I go there for lunch on Mondays and get awsome service at the bar. I recomend the three fifty burger! Also the wraps are awsome. All the soups I've had there are super! Go for the booze stay for the drinks!

We've been going to the Beehive for the past several months. The food is fresh and interesting for bar fare. Love the pot roast and fish tacos. The drinks are excellent. Prices are reasonable. We have not been in the bar, but sit in the restaurant area. There are interesting photos from the past (in poster size) that show St Charles of old. Nice atmosphere. All that deserves 4 stars, but it's the service that drops it down a notch. We go early in the evening for supper, if we are the only patrons we get excellent service, add a few more tables, and the service is sub par. I can't really explain why, they seem to have enough waitresses, they just seem distracted. Judging from other comments of locals, we are not the only ones to observe this. Hopefully, The Beehive will take heed and place more attention on the waitstaff.

This is one of our family favorites in St. Charles. They have AWESOME Onion rings, and a super good pulled pork sandwich - its the only thing my sister has ever ordered. The burgers are good, the tuna sandwich is great, and so is the soup! Good beer selection and decent bloody mary's! We usually hit it up for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday, and its usually pretty dead, so its a good time to bring my little nephews who love the hot dogs!

This place apparently hates its customers. I am disputing my credit card charges....if they do this to you, I suggest you do the same so you can recover your money.

The Beehive was larger than we expected after Pub 222. We got comfy in the bar at a tall table before we realized there was a game room and a probably quieter larger dining room with booths and tables. We liked the bar just fine and enjoyed watching the main street traffic and Courtney our very competent server hustle. We second the other reviews here particularly for very thinly buttermilk-battered fresh onion rings and tasty fish tacos, it is on a special menu so you may have to ask. The Reuben was also good, and we fought over the corn side that tasted fresh cut while a pretty average rice pilaf got cold. Big enough menu we had a 3rd and 4th choice, pulled pork or one of the big salads. Very busy place in the bar and Courtney was serving a 3/4 full bar and 3-4 tables so you had to wait a little while for a refill once in awhile but good job. Like Pub 222, I would give it 4 stars for bar food alone. I prefer the outdoor garden that Pub 222 has but it was raining so perfect. Sports bar motif plus Military Memorials, very timely for Memorial Day, and the much rarer Beehive references that seem to work. Flat screen TV's everywhere-you don't have to miss a shot here. Lotsa wood on the walls and has a rich appearance, largely rock and alternative music that was crisp and too loud-and it was still early. Pros- Flat screen sportz paradise, bar, game room and large dining room, competent interested servers, small but diverse menu, many draft beers. Cons- No outdoor eating area, really LOUD it is still a sports bar, a little heavy on the fried. We liked it but will head for Pub 222 when it is nice outside.

I like the Beehive more than many other neighborhood bar & grills. It's never as crowded as other St. Charles bars (i.e. Filling Station, Alley 64) and we usually seem to find a table. They have pretty good food too for dinner. I've had all of their wraps and have not been disappointed with any. My "go to" meal is definitely the southwest chicken wrap (or something named similarly). They also have awesome beers on tap.

I find the Beehive to be pretty enjoyable. The food wasn't too great but I don't expect a lot from most bars. The bartenders and servers are always pretty friendly. This place does get really jammed on weekends so it can be difficult to get drinks but other than that it's a decent low-key place most of the time.

Really enjoyed this place! Went on a Saturday night-the bar was jam packed b/c of the Hawks game-did not realize how big this place really was. Found a table in the dining room. Our server was super nice and even tho it was crazy busy she did not seem hurried or frazzled-got the menus to us right away and got our beers quick. Had the chicken wings and chicken quesadillas-nothing fabulous just good bar food. Fantastic location! Nice atmosphere! Would love to go back when its warmer outside to walk around. Will be back!

Since hoping a couple of years ago, I feel the food has gone downhill precipitously. Drinks and free popcorn are great but tough to have dinner there now. The crowd seems to be getting younger as well. I'll keep trying as I walk through it to get to other bars in town.

The Bee Hive is a typical pub and sports/pool bar. The food is mix of fried appetizers and burgers with lots of sandwich, salad, pastas, and steaks to choose from. The menu is extensive, even the pickiest of eaters are sure to find something they like. On a Friday or Saturday night the place packs in fast. If your able to make it there on a Sunday or Monday, the pool is free. Throughout the week, there are daily specials, my favorite being half price appetizers daily from 4-6 pm. If you're looking for a great place to hang out with friends and have some drinks and appetizers, this is the spot to go in St. Charles. Portions are large, prices are fair, and the whole place is buzzing with twenty or thirty somethings unwinding afterwork.

One of my favorite places to go when in St. Charles. The atmosphere is very relaxed and fun, and the food is very good. They have a few sandwiches that I love, and everything else we have tried is very good as well. Beehive has a full bar with a decent beer selection if I recall correctly. Prices are about what you would expect for a bar and grill type of place. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Parking comes easy with a lot in back or ample street parking near by.

This is another local St. Charles bar that my husband and I like going to. They have a good beer selection and, of course, a full bar. We tend to bar hop a little from either St. Charlie's or The Filling Station just down the street. We have never ate here so I can't comment on that but from the other reviews it seems like they have decent food. We just like the mixed crowd atmosphere that is very laid back and not too loud.

The Beehive is a great addition to the St. Charles bar scene. Up until 2 years ago, the building used to be a dive bar called Hoops. I believe the building was bought out renovated. Many of the St. Charles bars attract the "younger" crowds, but the Beehive seems to attract late 20s-40s. If you are looking for that age range, this is the pace to go to. The wait staff is great and the food is delicious.

Enjoyed a meal at The Beehive for a special event. I'd say my overall experience was 3 stars- however, I really appreciated the fact that they hosted this event for my friend, were willing to donate 15% of proceeds, and seeing the bartenders explain the event to the people that were just there for a Blackhawks game- and talking to them about donating. Now for my real review. The restaurant/pub was extremely busy the time we visited. There were definitely not enough servers, but those who were working were doing a great job with how busy it was. It took quite awhile to get our order taken, but from there the process was speedy. Refills came of our sodas without asking, and the food we ordered was good. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I ordered an appetizer sampler- I love that they do their sampler so you can choose which appetizers you want from a list. I tried the onion rings (absolutely excellent), portobello fries, and chicken fingers. I enjoyed them all. We did feel like the menu was kind of unusual- lots of things that did not really seem to connect to one another- but people seemed to be enjoying their food at all of the other tables. I don't know that I will be rushing back to the Beehive- but I would not mind going back to try another meal in the future.

This review is based on the bar experience only, as I have not yet tried their food. One of these visits I will, but given that I've been here three times to belly up to the bar, I figured I owed them a review. I'm admittedly a little spoiled when it comes to beer selection, because I have a couple of places nearby that offer quite a spread of taps, but I have to hand it to the Hive, they make good use of a relatively small number of taps. They have had both Revolution's Anti-Hero and Goose Island's Green Line on tap each time I've been there. Any place that does that deserves some props. After I've had the chance to try the food, I'll have to update this review, because if the food's any good, this is probably a 4 star place. I love the atmosphere, and the bartenders have always been nice.

Went with my boyfried and his friends who are from or used to live a considerable portion of their existance in St. Charles. I really enjoyed the beehive. It gets sooooo packed when the kids come home for Christmas, liiiiike super packed. My wife and stopped in while in town. Staff immediately acknowledged us even though the place was slow at an off hour on a Saturday afternoon. They served us well the whole time we were there We didn't order drinks, only interested I food. I ordered a simple cheeseburger and my wife ordered a fish sandwich. Both were good, came with tater tots served promptly. Server made sure we had all we needed several times. All in all I'd rate the food as average which is the reason for the four star rating. Nothing out of the ordinary here. But we will return. I'd recommend that give it a try.

This is a great community bar with a fun, laid back atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. I sat at the bar, watched the Blackhawks game and dined on Beehive's fish tacos. The tacos were very good - much better than typical bar fare. The fish had great flavor and the rice served with the dish was a tasty, pleasant surprise. I recommend this place as a casual spot to relax and watch a game over a couple of beers with friends.

My husband and I went in on a Monday night, so it wasn't terribly busy. There are 2 entrances. One off route 64 and one in the back. There's tons of public parking in the back, so that's the way we came in. It has more of a restaurant feel in the back, and more of a bar feel in the front. We were able to get a table right away and the waitress came over within minutes. I ordered a long island because it was a Monday and it was only $3.50! They have some great drink specials (see picture below). We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they don't skimp on the amount. They were good, but nothing amazing. But, we enjoyed them nonetheless. I ordered the pork belly tacos and they were amazing. To be honest, I wasn't expecting super, but I was proven wrong. I basically inhaled my food. The tacos were rich and delicious. Whoever is making them, knows what they are doing. It came with a side of corn which was refreshing. For what it is, this place ranks pretty high in my books. I would go back, just for the pork belly tacos. My only complaints: #1 It was dark and I wish there were some more windows or that they would uncover the front windows with all the posters. #2 the place where we were sitting, I think was not level. I tried a couple different chairs and everything was still uneven. #3 When I asked for a beer menu, she said "it changes all the time. we don't have a menu". Ok..well get a menu and print a new one out all the time, then.

Multi generational fun! I love this place for lunch and early evening. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Good food, non-rushed yet attentive and friendly service. Have taken my family here. Kids enjoy video golf game and touchtunes juke box. Late night, walked in with some 40-something friends and there were panicked looks from members of the capacity crowd, as if someone's parents just busted a high school kegger. Not insinuating that management serves under 21, just that the average age decreases by 50 pct after 10. Good for them. They have quality taste, which means there is hope for the next generation. Put this place on your list for a weekend afternoon bar crawl, catch a game on ample TV's or a great afternoon hideaway for midweek "off site meeting".

This was either the first or second stop on our St. Charles bar crawl. The night was a blur, so I'm not 100% sure. I know we started here and it all began with a bang. I'm definitely a big city guy, but there's a charm about St. Charles that you can't find anywhere else. I had a great time and the Beehive is in the middle of it all. I like that there's a lot of space to spread out. They have food and a huge bar. The bartenders were all really cool and despite not being a shots guy, they seemed to find ones that I enjoyed.

As far as St. Charles goes, the Beehive is probably as Bar/Pub/Restaurant as they come. It's the quintessential watering whole. Whenever I show up on a weekend, 20-somethings are literally sitting/standing/jumping around three-deep in front of the bar, just watching the bartender scramble. Maybe it's better than the Cubbies on TV? I digress... The long and short of it is that this place has the typical necessary evils on tap: Bud, Miller etc... They also have drink specials which is always a plus in my book because I'm cheap. When I drink, that is. ALSO: just saw some dbag who is b****ing about some of the staff getting in trouble. I hear that some of the staff (and I won't mention who, because it's been taken care of) were doing much worse things than taking the occasional shot whist on the job. If you have any idea how much trouble the restaurant could have gotten in, you wouldn't be saying such stupid things on the internet. The staff is professional and friendly, but sometimes even the best of us make mistakes. IF STC WERE A COLLEGE TOWN, that place would have been knee-deep in sh*t. Just sayin'. Sorry. Yet another digression, but I feel that it had to be said.

This bar is one of my sister and brother-in-law's favorite places to frequent in St. Charles, and I certainly understand why. Not only are their food and drinks great, but the management and staff are equally wonderful. I recently contacted them to see if they would be willing to help out for a pub crawl fundraiser that I was organizing for the American Cancer Society. One of the managers said that he would be glad to donate a couple $20 gift cards to raffle off to participants and that I could pick them up when the group comes through the day of the event. The fundraiser was this past Saturday, and, as promised, the gift cards were there waiting for us, and I was able to raise money for the American Cancer Society through the raffle. I really appreciated this business's willingness to support an important cause and thought that yelpers should be aware that when they visit this place, they are not only getting great food, great drink specials, and friendly service, but they are also supporting a business run by good people. This venue was ideal for a big, eclectic group of people. Many of the bar crawl participants enjoyed playing pool and darts, while others enjoyed just relaxing and talking while munching on nachos and pretzel sticks and washing it all down with a tasty beverage. Thank you, Beehive, for supporting a charity and, as always, facilitating a fun time for your guests!

I like this bar a lot to be honest, more so than some of the other ones in downtown St. Charles. Came here to watch a Bulls game one night when ESPN Radio was there so it was pretty packed since free stuff was given out. 2 dollar beers on this particular night was not too shabby. The food from what I remember was alright. My group ordered a bunch of different appetizers to share. The nachos were pretty good. The tater tots and cheese curds were alright, nothing special. And don't get the onion rings, they barely give you any. Our waitress was a little slow but that was only because of the amount of people. Was pretty hard to get to the bar too in the same sense but she pulled through for us. I'd suggest sitting in the back room as there is more space rather than the front. I feel like there is better lighting in the back too. Or if you are feeling adventurous you can be in the patio. Great place though.

The Beehive is pretty ho-hum. There's nothing that positively separates it from any other pub-and-grille in the suburbs. Their beer selection offers just a tad bit more than other restaurants in the area: they carry Rogue, Fat Tire, Goose and Pacifico in addition to the usual beer line-up. Their food is astoundingly forgettable. I ordered their Angus Beer Burger. I was pretty hungry when we were seated but I had to force myself to finish the burger because it just didn't register with my taste buds. If Angus had ground packing peanuts, colored it deep brown and called it a burger, I wouldn't have known the difference. Whomever prepared my party's meals was very Scrooge-like with the fries. It's as if the cook were preparing for nuclear winter and was under the delusion that fries would be their one and only salvation. Truly, only six or seven pieces got onto my plate which comes off as cheap and stingy. The Beehive wait staff seemed to be floating around all night but they certainly weren't paying attention to our table. Neglectful service during busy hours is understandable but the place was nowhere near packed (which I now realize was a warning sign). The Beehive strikes me as that bar that your friends happen onto between two fun places. It's the place where you stick around for a beer and leave. With its name, you hope to be enticed, even prodded, to believe this is your destination but there's really nothing to keep you inside.

Horrible. Pretentious staff who think they are tending bar in soho or something. Intentionally ignore you to improve their self esteem. Wait 45 minutes for a drink watching the alcoholic bartender get drunk instead of making drinks. The bar is full of loser townies. After spending a good part of the night there laying down some cash with my friends enjoying nice conversation (despite crowd's rowdiness), the lights came on at 1 and the drunk bartender interrupted our waitress (who was doing last call) to kick us out. He told her to leave our table and told my party to leave after we paid. I told him to settle down and that he had too much to drink and at that point he grabbed my Leica - a $3k camera - off the table and started running out the back door! I had to tackle him to get my camera back at which point other staff apologized, took him away and let us finish our drinks. Ridiculous- guy should have been fired several times that night. Who steals a customers camera? He was so drunk- isn't that illegal? The one star is for the apology, the fact that the bar was busy, and that they carry goose island on tap (albeit priced higher than downtown Chicago bars that are way better).

What a disappointment. I went there with a friend, early afternoon, on a Sunday. There were 2 people at the bar, besides me and my friend. Luckily for us, one of the people at the bar worked there, but was visiting on his day off. The bartendar was nowhere to be found. The guy at the bar, went behind the bar, to get us a couple of beers. The bartendar finally came back to the bar and explained that they only had 4 more MGDs. This is early afternoon on Sunday and they are out of MGD?? I have been to this place a couple of times, but this was my last time. When the bartendar was behind the bar, she was at the far end, talking to the guy that worked there. It was no wonder that, on a Sunday afternoon, there were only 4 people at the bar, to watch football. There are a lot of bars in St. Charles, that will give people the attention that they deserve. Very poor management...

Beehive is located in downtown St. Charles, so that is convenient. I park in one of the public lots and walk around to several places, so I don't know what it would be like to park with just Beehive in mind. The bar itself is nice. It is cozy and there is lots of wood everywhere. The space is broken up into several rooms: bar, pool table, dining area. I have visited a few times and I only sit at the bar. The beer selection is poor to fair. They do have one or two taps dedicated to something other than BMC beers, but even those choices are very "safe" for the general beer swilling crowd. Sometimes when I am in a place that is not heavy into craft brews, I will go with Scotch, but they don't have a lot of good options in that area either. One thing that really ruins the bar experience is the insane TV volume. TV is so loud I cannot hear myself think and it wasn't even a "big game" or anything inane like that. I wanted to like Beehive, but it just isn't my kind of bar. I have been back a few times, but I won't be rushing to go again.

This place gave a really respectable performance for a suburb bar, the BLARING Goo Goo Dolls that was playing when I entered not withstanding. The place is big, but still got pretty busy, which is nice. The crowd is mixed ages, but not in a weird way. The bartenders are very friendly and the beer offerings are very good. It's a little pricey, 5.75 for a Fat Tire, but whatever. I didn't eat, but all of the food smelled really fantastic, and there's a more restaurant-y seating area in the back, so this would be a good place for a meal. As for the music, there's a jukebox, so it's not really the bars fault, the evening included a very eclectic mix of country, rap, punk and dance music. I don't really plan on spending a significant amount of time in StC, but my friend just moved there so I'll be coming back and suggesting we make this our regular hang out.

I've been here a few times now and the past time was the best. The food was above average for your typical "bar." The place was clean, they had lots of TVs and we had a nice waitress. The crowd was split between people in their mid to late twenties and forty/fifty somethings. Didn't bother me, no one seemed out of place. There was also plenty of seating, even when the bar was crowded. I'm not in awe of the experience, but I'll be back the next time I am in the suburbs. One con: no beer menu, you just have to look for yourself at what is on tap.

I like the Beehive because it's not typical of St. Charles bars. The atmosphere is closer to a Chicago bar. I think they draw an older crowd. The place isn't full of young kids looking to get wasted, like some other St. Charles bars I might mention. The food is good and they have great food specials. The bar has great liquor selections, including Hendrics gin! They also finely got smart and got some good beer on tap! I go there for lunch on Mondays and get awsome service at the bar. I recomend the three fifty burger! Also the wraps are awsome. All the soups I've had there are super! Go for the booze stay for the drinks!
